Week of 9.8.14 :: Dance * Chris Brown ft Ariana G - Don't Be Gone Too Long

I love this video. Chris Brown might have his faults, but the talent is still there. Video shot in one take. And the song has some good moments of beats dropping out and vocal runs. But don't be too quick to judge for lack of lyrical content - apparently this isn't even the full song. Brown's upcoming album, X, should be released sometime this month (ahem, delayed because of his prison sentence..awkward). It's rumored that Ariana Grande might not be featured on the album cut of this song..but I think he'd be smart to include her since she's blowing up right now.

Other songs on his new album include "Loyal" (which features Lil Wayne on the "East Coast" version) and "Fine China" - which were both top Billboard hits back December and March, respectively. If the full song is anything like this video, I'll be a fan.

UPDATE: Chris Brown's album dropped September 12 but "Don't Be Gone Too Long" does NOT feature Ariana. Why not?! Who knows. There is a female vocal on the track, but it does not sound quite as strong as Ari and definitely is different from the above dance version. And there's no title credit to whoever that is. Why would they take her off? Silly, if you ask me..

The album does feature a plethora of other notable artists like Lil' Wayne, Usher, Trey Songz, R. Kelly, Akon, Kendrick Lamar, Brandy, Nicki Minaj, and even Aaliyah (RIP).  

Also, found this article by Revolt TV kinda interesting RE: the whole Rihanna/Chris Brown fiasco and their reputations since the event. What do you think? Have you forgiven him?
